Why Propose in Lake Tahoe?
People travel from all around the world to visit Northern California and Nevada’s shared gem-Lake Tahoe. Only a hour and a half drive from Sacramento, California’s capital, it is a no-brainer for both adventurous and relaxed couples. The views are phenomenal, most of which are easily accessible. However, if you’re looking for a more secluded location, there are many hikes where you can pop the question with ease.
North Lake Tahoe vs. South Lake Tahoe
North Lake Tahoe’s route is normally accessed fastest through highway 80, and boasts a quieter town with locals, including views around Incline Village, King’s Beach, and the Rubicon Peak Trail. South Lake Tahoe is a straight shot off of highway 50, with Nevada Beach, Eagle Rock, and Emerald Bay to walk right up to.
Sun, snow or sand?
Depending on the time of year, you can time your proposal with winter or summer in the Lake Tahoe mountains. Normally, winter’s snow is best from January to early March. If you want to propose during the triple digit weather in NorCal but don’t want to sweat buckets, a trip up to Tahoe is ideal since the weather is a comfortable 70-80 degrees with lush green backdrops.
Style Suggestions
Winter proposals are best if you are wrapped up so we use the best of your time. In my experience, cold weather makes everyone want to run inside-so don’t risk having a cute outfit just to feel like an ice cube in two minutes. It is best to stay warm and cozy to maximize your time remembering the moment.
Summer proposals are very flexible with style-flowy dresses or skirts, your comfiest casual outfit, or barefoot with jeans hiked up a little to touch the water is what turns out best for these summit sessions.
